It is with much sadness that we learned about the passing of Barry Haaser on March 26th, 2022. He was 62 years old.

As many of you know Barry was a key resource within LonMark International where he was actively involved and served as Executive Director for a number of years. Barry transformed the organization from an Echelon-guided organization to its current stand-alone, non-profit status while also uniting LonUser groups from around the world to create the truly worldwide, LonMark International trade association we know today.

Barry was awarded as LMI Visionary of the Year in 2008.

He spent 15 years with Echelon Corporation, where he held marketing and business-development positions in the U.S. and Europe. Previously, he served as Vice-President of Marketing at Alacritech and as the Director of Marketing at Saratoga Systems.

Through his consulting firm LakeView, Barry provided executive leadership to the OpenADR Alliance, the Wi-SUN Alliance, GreenButton Alliance, the EIS Alliance, the Dash 7 Alliance, the Home Lighting Control Alliance, and the U-SNAP Alliance.  He served on the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Advisory Committee, was formerly an officer on the Board of Directors for the Smart Grid Interoperability Panel (SGIP), and served as a member of the North American Energy Standards Board (NAESB).  Barry was also an active Rotarian for decades.

Barry retired in 2018 and moved from Morgan Hill, California to Niceville, Florida with his wife Paula. He had a progressing diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease which made doing what he loved difficult.  He leaves behind his wife Paula and two children.

His spirit and his soul are now free to roam again. He will be greatly missed by those who had the privilege to work and learn from him.  More information in remembrance will be posted at the McLaughlin Twin Cities Funeral Home https://www.tributearchive.com/obituaries/24402963/barry-a-haaser

With our deepest sympathy,
LonMark International
