IIPSEC visitor numbers up by 50% as hunger for network based security knowledge and solutions grow

Visitors to the event witnessed the world’s most revolutionary security products, technology and solutions during the hugely successful 3 Day show. More than 100 exhibiting companies, sponsors and supporters saw Stoneleigh Park swamped as attendance numbers hit the 3,000 mark with exhibitors overwhelmed by the knowledge hungry throng..... Unprecedented numbers prove IP to be the future @ IIPSEC 2005. The organisers of IIPSEC Europe’s premier networked security event have reported that visitor numbers have significantly increased on the figure for last year and interest in the event has been phenomenal.

Who Visited and why?
With 2,994 Delegates from over 46 countries visiting the show many of which flew in, the event had a real ‘international feel’. As predicted the trade and associated channels were well represented with a breakdown of 50% Installers, Solution Providers, Consultants, Specifiers and End-Users, 30% Distributors and VAR’s and 20% Manufactures. Interest in Video-over IP was still in pole position at 52% but access control and integration showed a high level of growth increasing to 17%. Remote Monitoring and Software interest was also up on last year at 8% overall.

Show Highlights
Dedicated Micros launching some exciting new developments in bespoke DV-IP Server technology for specific market sectors including the new DV-IP ATM, the subject of Dedicated Micros’ IP in Action show seminar. The inherent flexibility of the DV-IP Server range makes it the ideal building block for any multi-site application. Bosch Security Systems offered the DVR1A which is claimed has greater capacity than VHS-based systems. The recorder hard disk has a capacity of 80 GB, equivalent to approximately four video tapes. This allows continuous or time-lapse recording for up to a week or even longer. Axis Communications launched two new additions to the range – the Axis 211A offered two way audio and MPEG and MPEG-4 video streams and the Axis 221 will be the Companies new flagship. BT offered Europe’s first managed CCTV proposition. The solution it is claimed to bring together intelligence, service level guarantees and financial stability. The COE stand featured X-Class system and is claimed to offer real-time analogue –equivalent video utilising MPEG-4 compression. VDT was a very busy stand throughout the show with a host of products including the MemoCam and Net IP on display. SeeFAR are a new company which launched ‘BuildingMINDER’ a brand new concept which offers Corporate IT the benefits of outsourcing dedicated service centres which monitor and manages buildings. Servision was demonstrating its new ruggedised vehicle mounted IVG product that provides continuous streaming of high quality video from up to 4 cameras from a moving vehicle. FLIR released its FLIR.217 a thermo vision IP based camera with IEEE01394 FireWire and Ethernet connection. JVC launched two new DVR’s both models offer 10/100 BaseT network access for complete IP integration. Milestone stand offered something different with the contribution of the ‘CISCO Connect Car’. The Volvo vehicle which was driven over to the show by some of the Milestone team not only looked the part but was bristling with high technology. Framos exhibited a range of IP, Ethernet, USB2 and FireWire cameras and associated products.

The “IP in Security Innovation Awards” were introduced last year to provide a platform to recognise and celebrate the new products, services and developments of IP technology within the security industry. Recognised across the globe the awards are seen as a launch pad for finalists and winners alike and have been proven to open doors, gain both credibility and business and increase visibility. Following the success of the event in 2004, the level of entries this time was again substantial with a broad spread across the three categories, Software, Hardware & Application (deployment).
