2006 AHR EXPOŽ Shatters Several Records En Route to Biggest Show Of all Time

WESTPORT, CT. February 2, 2006 - More than 57,000 HVACR professionals filled the aisles and booths at the 76th AHR Expo in Chicago, January 23-25 as the world's largest HVACR event broke several records.

Driven by unprecedented association support, new Show features, and a healthy economy, the 2006 Show set new records for exhibitors (1,981), square footage (411,175) and number of international exhibitors (400). According to Show Management, a total of 57,673 HVACR professionals (36,891 visitors and 20,782 exhibitor personnel) registered for the Show.

"We are delighted with this year's record-breaking event as it reflects the growth of various industry segments within the AHR Expo and our ongoing efforts to add several Show enhancements," said Clay Stevens, President of IEC, the Show producer and organizer. "AHR Expo is the only HVACR-exclusive event in the world that offers HVACR professionals such an extensive overview of all segments of the marketplace."

2006 Show Highlights
In addition to the new all-time records, the 2006 AHR Expo featured several notable highlights:

  • The fourth annual Innovation Awards were presented to nine companies in nine categories in recognition of advances in innovation, application, value to user, and market impact. A new Green Building category was added this year and a record number of applications were received. A complete list of winners can be found at www.ahrexpo.com/innovationawards/index.php.

  • In addition to the companies recognized during the Innovation Awards, many others sponsored press events to announce new offerings including Emerson, ITT/Bell & Gossett, Promark Associates, Superior Manufacturing, Lonmark International, Cleaver-Brooks, Solar Integrated and several others.

  • Four new endorsing associations signed on this year, joining the 21 organizations already endorsing the Show.

  • The Radiant Panel Association showcased its "Radiant House" at AHR Expo for the first time. The Radiant House featured live demonstrations by several suppliers of various energy-efficient products.

  • A record number of exhibiting companies received the coveted IAQ (Indoor Air Quality) designation for showcasing environmentally friendly products.

  • A total of 41 educational sessions were presented by ASHRAE, ARI, AHR Expo, and other endorsing associations on such wide-ranging topics as 'SEER 13', 'Integrated Building Design in Tall Buildings', and trends in building automation.

  • More than 5,000 registered international visitors from 110 countries, and 314 exhibitors from 39 countries made the Show the most "global" of all AHR Expos.

  • Both NATE and CxA offered onsite certification testing.

  • Over 400 companies introduced new products at the Show.
