HCM Introduces Outside Plant Category 6 POE Cable

Manchester, NH, – Hitachi Cable Manchester (HCM), a leader in the manufacture of communications cables, is now offering a new Category 6 cable designed specifically to accommodate Power Over Ethernet applications that require an outside plant cable. The cable, designed for outdoor aerial, conduit or direct burial applications, utilizes a rugged polyolefin overall jacket and filled with non-conductive water-blocking gel.

“Our new SecuraTM OSP cable gives owners the freedom to utilize the cable’s benefits in outdoor applications,” said Steven Kenney, Strategic Marketing Manager for HCM. One of the growing applications for this cable is video over twisted pair. Video systems, such as those by NITEK, utilize twisted pair technology to provide power and control signals to their video products, as well as to receive video signals, all on the same cable. The SecuraTM OSP cable allows the user to reach outside cameras without the expense of running electricity or conduit to the camera. Since the new SecuraTM Category 6 OSP cable utilizes 22-gauge copper for its conductors, the cable can handle power, video and pant/tilt/zoom requirements for virtually any camera on the market.

The SecuraTM OSP cable is also an enhanced Category 6 cable. Providing significant headroom to the TIA/EIA 568-B.2-1 standards, the Secura OSP cable can allow you to extend your network to locations that may have previously been cost prohibitive.

HCM’s part number for the SecuraTM OSP cable is 30210-8. The cable is available on 1,000-foot reels. Contact HCM for availability and lead times.

A complete listing of all HCM cables can be found at the HCM website,
