(DENT Instruments, Bend, OR) – DENT Instruments, a global leader in the design and manufacture of power and energy measurement instruments, announced the introduction of the PowerScout™ Series of networked power meters designed to provide timely and accurate energy consumption data for building automation and control systems. The communications interface to the PowerScout™ is through an RS422/485 serial connection using the industry standard Modbus protocol.

New PowerScout ™SeriesThe PowerScout’s™ flexibility, size, and ease-of-use make them ideal tools for gathering detailed energy consumption and efficiency information in commercial, industrial, government and retail environments. The PowerScout™ requires no external power and can accommodate service voltages ranging from 50-530V. DENT’s patented PhaseChek™ circuitry includes a 3 LED indicator display that confirms proper CT to phase installation and CT orientation – greatly reducing set-up time. Data updates occur every 0.5 sec, and instrument accuracy is better than 1%.

Chris Dent, President of DENT Instruments said, “These meters can capture real-time kW/kWh demand data as well as virtually all relevant energy variables for diagnostics and monitoring on three-phase and single-phase circuit installations. The PowerScout™ can be supplied with virtually any combination of DENT’s internally-shunted split-core, Rogowski, or clamp-on CTs and is equipped with a RS-485 Modbus interface.”

The POWERscout™ 18 is a multi-channel (CT) version that allows it to be configured for monitoring multiple electrical circuits sharing a common voltage source, or for current only monitoring of branch circuits. The PS 18 is well suited for data center monitoring, tenant sub-metering, and for accountability metering in commercial, retail, and industrial facilities.

DENT Instruments is a leading supplier of an array of precision measurement instrumentation and analytical software in the field of energy management. www.DENTinstruments.com
