Richmond, VA., September 2003 - Tridium, Inc, a leader in Internet-based energy technologies, and the Commonwealth of Virginia, today announce the planned installation of Tridium's innovative Vykon Energy Suite to monitor and control energy costs throughout the Commonwealth. The project, which will be implemented in many major state universities, prisons, and administrative buildings, is the largest energy-monitoring project to date within Virginia.
The project will help participating state agencies to meet the objectives of Governor Mark R. Warner's Executive Order 54 (03), directing the Governor's Secretaries and all executive branch agencies in Virginia to reduce energy costs and consumption in state government operations. Governor Warner set a short-term goal for all agencies to reduce energy consumption by at least seven percent by 2004, and 10 percent by 2006, when compared to a 2002 baseline. Each agency will be required to monitor and report energy costs, consumption, and implementation progress of the energy management plan.
Tridium's Vykon Energy Suite will be used to integrate data from utility meters and energy management systems for the purpose of monitoring consumption and costs. The sophisticated analytical tools within Vykon Energy will allow the state to identify the most effective energy procurement strategies and demand-side management opportunities. The real-time capabilities of Vykon Energy will provide the state with instant notification of potential unfavorable conditions, allowing it to reduce peaks that typically constitute a major portion of the energy expense.
