Event Aims to Educate and Inform End Users, Integrators and Consultants

BOSTON – The BACnet Interest Group of North America (BIG-NA) and the BACnet Manufacturers Association (BMA) announce that The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) has endorsed the BACnet Conference and Expo to be held October 23 – 25, 2005, in Nashville, Tenn. The conference, presented by BIG-NA and BMA, is designed to educate mechanical system design professionals, integrators and end users on the benefits of the BACnet open protocol. The event will feature a variety of seminars lead by industry professionals and a trade show including multi-vendor interoperability demonstrations. The BACnet Conference and Expo will be held at the Nashville Airport Marriott Hotel. Details are available at www.bacnetconference.org.

“We are pleased to announce that ASHRAE has endorsed our conference, which is designed to be highly educational and informative,” said Jon Williamson, product marketing manager, Tour Andover Controls and marketing chairman of the BACnet Manufacturers Association. “BACnet is growing rapidly today, with every major building controls manufacturer producing BACnet devices and more and more project specifications calling for open BACnet systems. Whether you are new to BACnet, or a seasoned BACnet expert, there will be topics and products for you to explore and learn about at the conference.”

BACnet is an ISO standard 16484-5 for building technology protocols and is a registered trademark of ASHRAE.

The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), founded in 1894, is an international organization of 55,000 persons. Its sole objective is to advance through research, standards writing, publishing and continuing education the arts and sciences of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration to serve the evolving needs of the public.

The BACnet Manufacturers Association (BMA) is an organization that encourages the successful use of BACnet in building automation and control systems through compliance and interoperability testing, educational programs and promotional activities. Information on the BMA is available at www.bacnetassociation.org.

The BACnet Interest Group of North America (BIG-NA) assists facility owners and designers to better understand open systems and their benefits. With a commitment to open systems, the BIG-NA has worked with ASHRAE committee members, National Institute of Standards and Testing personnel, BACnet manufacturer’s association members, and the BACnet Testing Labs to create a forum to test ideas and improve standards of open systems. Information on the organization is available at www.big-na.org.
