OpsManage 2009 user conference Nov. 3-5 in Anaheim, Calif.

Ken Sinclair Editor/Owner

I attended OpsManage'09  and enjoyed sharing the industrial controls perspective of where our control industry is headed. I was part of a Facilities Management Forum lead by John Bishop. Our session was to show how Invensys helps solve challenges associated with green buildings, sustainability, carbon emissions, regulatory compliance and energy management. My function was to provide insight and perspective into what other players in our industry are presently doing.

Invensys Operations Management Sharpens Aim

November 9th, 2009 Written by Wes Iversen, Managing Editor http://www.automationworld.com/

At its latest user conference, CEO Bhattacharya portrays the new Invensys division as the automation supplier best-positioned to provide solutions for today’s manufacturing challenges.

“We have set some really ambitious targets about where we want to take the manufacturing world,” declared Sudipta Bhattacharya, president and chief executive officer of Invensys Operations Management (IOM, www.iom.invensys.com), Plano, Texas, in a keynote address at the company’s OpsManage’09 user conference Nov. 3-5 in Anaheim, Calif.

The OpsManage event replaced the annual conference previously known as WonderWorld, sponsored by Wonderware—one of four units of London-based Invensys plc that were merged last May to form IOM. Other units that make up the new IOM division include Invensys Process Solutions (IPS, which includes Avantis, Foxboro, SimSci-Esscor and Triconex), along with U.K.-based Eurotherm and IMServ.

[an error occurred while processing this directive] Sustainability positioned as key driver of Invensys Operations Management strategy

Frito-Lay's David Haft delivers OpsManage '09 opening day keynote, outlining how a focus on sustainability has transformed the company. David Greenfield -- Control Engineering, 11/5/2009 http://www.controleng.com/

With a tagline of "Empowering Sustainable Success," Invensys Operations Management (IOM) OpsManage '09 conference in Anaheim, CA (November 3-5), positioned environmental excellence as one of the key drivers behind the company's new go-to-market strategy.

When asked if the manufacturing sector's current focus on sustainability was more an issue of taking advantage of government incentives or represented a true shift in thinking for the industry, IOM president and CEO Sudipta Bhattacharya said that a key factor behind the industry's increasing focus on energy efficiency is that "manufacturers today have to compete globally by having a lower price point. In addition, they are seeking to reduce the variability they face in fluctuating energy prices that can so dramatically affect their costs."

Bhattacharya also pointed out that many manufacturers are finding that, if they want to do business with certain companies, they have to know what their carbon footprint is and demonstrate how they're managing it. For complete report follow link below
