Sinclair:  It’s hard to believe, but it’s that time of year again. The 2019 ControlTrends Awards are just around the bend. Tell us what’s in store for the 8th Annual ControlTrends Awards.

Smyers:  I know Ken, it is hard to believe that we are already finalizing plans for our eighth show.  We are delighted to announce that the 2019 ControlTrends Awards will be held from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM, February 2, 2020, at the BB King’s Blues Club, located on International Blvd, Orlando, FL, about a half-mile from the Convention Center.

This will be a first for the ControlTrends Awards, as we take this unique opportunity to combine the 8th annual CTA Award Ceremony with an incredible follow-on event, Super Bowl 54. Without leaving your seats, the ControlTrends Awards will transition into one of the largest tailgate parties in Orlando!

Sinclair:  Sounds like a lot of fun and excitement. You mentioned that the ControlTrends Awards are currently in the Nomination Phase. Tell us what that means and how people can participate.

Smyers:  Right, there are two phases in the ControlTrends Awards process, the Nomination Phase, when the ControlTrends Community can nominate the people, products, and solutions that they believe are the best in each category. To do so, click on the nomination ballot (below) and select up to three choices in each category.  If your choice is not yet listed, then click on the “other” radio button, and type in your nomination choice.

The Nomination Phase ends December 15th, 2019, and the Voting Phase will begin. The top 5 or 6 vote-getters in each category will then compete for the winner in each category. The final voting phase will end January 27th, 2020.  And, the winners for each category will be announced at the 2019 ControlTrends Awards.

Here is the link to the 2019 ControlTrends Nomination Ballot!

Sinclair:  You also mentioned that there were a few changes in the categories for this year’s show.  Tell us a little bit about them.

Smyers:   Right, it’s all about the trends. As mergers and acquisitions, new technologies, IoT products and solutions, and innovative people change and impact our industry, the ControlTrends Awards categories have changed or have been modified accordingly.  This year we’ve added the Impact Solution, Impact Person, ControlTrends Distributor, and Master Systems or Distributor Executive of the Year.

Eric and I are especially grateful to the continued support of our sponsors and excited about the progress we are making with ControlTrends Hall of Fame and the sustaining the legacy of the ControlTrends Awards.

Sinclair:  Sounds like attending the 2019 ControlTrends Awards will be a great way to start the year and the 2020 AHR EXPO.

Smyers:  Yes, it will! And we look forward to all the great breakouts, training, and networking-that you are hosting as well.
