WESTPORT, CT…July 5, 2006 - Reflecting its ongoing commitment to improving Indoor Air Quality, the Indoor Air Quality Association (IAQA) has announced its endorsement of the AHR Expo. IAQA is the 26th organization to endorse the HVAC/R industry-leading event.

"By endorsing the AHR Expo, IAQA hopes to attract more of its members to the [Show] where they can learn about the latest in IAQ product development, attend educational sessions, and network with tens of thousands of colleagues," said Glenn Fellman, Executive Director, IAQA. "Many of our members are already regular AHR attendees."

Consumers have become more aware of and committed to improving Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) since energy conservation measures were instituted during the 1970s. Initially steps were taken to limit the buildup of indoor air contaminants. Indoor Air Quality now, however, encompasses many more health-related issues including the prevention of asthma, improving air quality in schools, reducing mold and radon in homes, and creating a safe environment in hospitals.

According to Fellman, a number of new products have been developed with a greater emphasis on air cleaning and filtration markets. Other advances that have led to the IAQ boom include increased efficiency HVAC filters, UV lights, anti-microbial products, and technology to determine sources of indoor air pollution.

"Our attendees have always had an interest in learning more about improving Indoor Air Quality," said Clay Stevens, President of International Exposition Company (IEC), Show Producers and Managers. "Our new relationship with the IAQA will help us educate the industry on residential and commercial IAQ."
The AHR Expo and ASHRAE have long offered educational opportunities dealing with air quality issues and the AHR Expo Innovation Awards program features a category recognizing new technology in Indoor Air Quality. To help attendees locate exhibitors with products or services specifically for IAQ applications, Show Management developed a special logo to display in their booths. There were more than 200 IAQ companies exhibiting at the 2006 AHR Expo.
