Sinclair:  What has been going on in BACnet International lately?

Wilson:  Some interesting things are happening at BACnet International.  What I can share mainly involves the marketing committee’s activities.

BACnet Made Simple Webcast – BACnet Made Simple Webcast – On June 23, 2011 [1 PM EST], Laura Molesworth, Product Manager for Carrier Corporation and Marketing Committee Member of BACnet International, will discuss how a multi-vendor BACnet solution can be implemented easily at your facility using a "smart system" approach. This webcast will be moderated by Building Operating Management magazine editor Ed Sullivan, and will feature an open question and answer section at the end. This webcast is free and open to anyone who wants to better understand the role of BACnet in building management.

Presenter: Laura Molesworth, Product Manager, Carrier Corporation
Q&A: Zig Lewicki, Product Manager/Carrier Corporation

Facility Decisions - We’re gearing up for our fall show: Facility Decisions, a free two day conference and trade show which will be held this year at the Mirage Event Center in Las Vegas October 11-12. The education committee is preparing the BACnet education tracks. This is also the show where BACnet International recognizes leaders in the BACnet International community, both companies and individuals, with the Leaders of the Pack awards. We’ll be posting show updates and content on the Facility Decisions LinkedIn Group.

Cornerstones - We recently published the ninth issue of Cornerstones, BACnet International’s free, monthly eNewsletter.  This publication goes to members of the BACnet community, connecting corporate, integrator, site, student and individual end-users (current distribution 15,000+ members / subscribers). Cornerstones covers BACnet community news, success stories, product announcements, press releases, events, and spotlights volunteers. Cornerstones is a unique publication in that it is geared not only to engineering and contractor communities, but also facility professionals, managers, owners and students. The BACnet International community is really beginning to get behind this eNewsletter.

This free resource provides a place to promote successful projects that use BACnet in order to further knowledge of the BACnet protocol. These success stories become a permanent record on BACnet International’s website of a company’s successful BACnet project and are featured in Cornerstones, candidates for articles in the BACnet International Journal, and promoted on various LinkedIn groups (BACnet, CABA, AutomatedBuildings, etc.). These mini case studies are produced with a simple web form to upload the content, (narratives, photos, etc...) which is then reviewed by editors from BACnet International then posted and promoted. Submitted success stories are also automatically eligible for additional public recognition via BACnet International's Leaders of the Pack awards.

Social Media – We’re spending more time working on putting content and information out on social media. BACnet International is participating in Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn. We’re posting photos from shows, “tweeting” from events, publicizing success stories and distributing content. Members / followers are continuing to rise in each of these promotional vectors.

Sinclair:  Anything else you can share?

Wilson:  Yes, in addition to the efforts already discussed, the BACnet International Marketing Committee is working on a BACnet International website refresh, revising our marketing collateral and expanding our volunteer spotlights.
