Sinclair: What exactly is this project?
Ehrlich: The Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) airport is in the
process of a major program to renovate their terminals. As part
of this project they are looking to integrate systems across the
terminals for improved energy and operational efficiency.
Sinclair: Is this basically just a common BAS?
Ehrlich: The owner envisions this as a larger
integration platform that is called the “Enterprise Information and
Operations System” or EIOS. Initially it will connect together the
various BAS systems, as well as fire alarm, metering, and the central
plant. In time this system may be expanded to include other
systems including jet bridges and under wing equipment as well as other
buildings across the airport site.
Sinclair: What is the status of the project?
Ehrlich: Our firm has been working with the airport on
this for several years. We have helped them to define a plan and
standards for the underlying systems. The next step is to solicit
proposals for a Systems Integration Contractor who will be responsible
to furnish software and complete the integration over a period of
several years.
Sinclair: Is this open to any systems integrator?
[an error occurred while processing this directive]Ehrlich:
Yes. The owner will be requesting technical proposals and is
looking for integrators with experience on projects of similar size and
scope. The RFP is number 7006003 and will be posted at https://www.dfwairport.com/business/solicitations/index.php.
We anticipate that the posting will go up around September 28, 2015.
Sinclair: Any closing thoughts?
Ehrlich: We always appreciate working with Automated Buildings and encourage you to keep up the good work.
