On a sad note did you see that ASHRAE Fellow Ole Fanger, IAQ Research Pioneer died.  P. Ole Fanger, D.Sc., Fellow ASHRAE, who helped make the indoor environments where we live, work and play comfortable, healthy and productive, has died at age 72. Fanger accumulated more than 75 scientific awards in 28 countries, including recognition from ASHRAE, for his landmark contributions to the indoor environment. I had occasion to meet Ole Clima 2005 Lausanne Switzerland and shake his hand and congratulate him on his amazing work. He was very modest and did not look at all his years. I hope that our industry finds a new champion as likable and with the passion for IAQ Research.

The September issue is coming to you via cell modem from our sailboat which is in Desolation Sound 100 nautical miles north of our Vancouver Island Office. It is times like this that I remember how much I love the internet and the "anywhereness" that allows us to keep our magazine current while allowing us the type of travel we like to do. Yesterday was great, 20 knot winds but today has low winds and what there is is on our nose, so we are motoring north which is a great time to get my mind into the September issue. We have some great interviews, please meet Steve Fey, President, Tridium who tells us about The future at Tridium  Looking ahead, we will continue to invest in both R&D and marketing to both meet the needs of our existing customers and to more rapidly expand into industrial automation and M2M applications. Good news Steve. I was pleased to have Steve give us his valuable time to let us know that John Petze will be missed but that Tridium will go on.

Anwer Bashi, Senior Research Engineer, Computrols, Inc. tells us more about  Fuzzy Logic

Thomas M. (Thom) Keel  tell us about Life-Cycle Costing  Life-cycle costing has become de rigueur for anyone embracing sustainability.

Lots of great articles as well our September Reviews FIATECH Technology Roadmap &

Lots of great articles and interviews in this month's issue.

We have been working on improving our web site by reorganizing how we handle the great number of news release we receive daily.  We now provide a HomeToys RSS News Feed News Feed ( Which Needs a RSS Feed Reader ) and have provided a New Our RSS news feed rendered into HTML

If you are like I was and do not know what RSS is RSS is a Web content syndication format.  The name is an acronym for Really Simple Syndication. Read here for more details http://blogs.law.harvard.edu/tech/rss

We are slowly figuring it all out so bear with us as we install this new news service. Please share with us any suggestions you have to better use this approach and others to keep moving our web site forward to meet your needs. Our News Briefs are now handled as news feed items and archived for now in a similar format as before.

Tell our sponsors you saw their ad on the AutomatedBuildings.com web site and thank them for supporting your free access to evolving Automated Building Industry information. Click on their ads and view their valuable products and services. Please review all Our Sponsors.

As I always say, it is a great time to be in the news business for our industry.
